Big changes to the agency charged with securing elections lead to midterm worries
SUMMARY: The federal agency that oversees the security of election systems was largely absent from planning before elections this month in several states. That's leading many state election officials to be concerned about how engaged the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency will be for next year’s midterms. Officials are citing the shifting priorities of the Trump administration, as well as staffing reductions and budget cut. Some officials say they've begun scrambling to fill the anticipated gaps. But representatives of the federal agency say it's ready to provide election expertise if asked and that future organizational plans will be announced “at the appropriate time.”.

Jets' failed fourth-down gamble proves pivotal in 23-10 loss to Ravens
SUMMARY: With his team playing surprisingly well against the heavily favored Baltimore Ravens, Jets first-year coach Aaron Glenn had no desire to play it safe on a fourth-down play in his own territory. There might be a time in the future when a similar roll-the-dice decision pays off for the fiery coach. On Sunday, his gutsy third-quarter call misfired miserably. Glenn kept his offense on the field with the Jets down 10-7 and facing a fourth-and-2 from their own 42. Tyrod Taylor fired an incomplete pass to a tightly covered John Metchie and the Ravens turned the failed gamble into the pivotal touchdown in a 23-10 victory Sunday.

Interim coach Mike Kafka has no regrets about aggressive fourth-down call in Giants' loss to Lions
SUMMARY: Mike Kafka sees no point in second-guessing himself. In his second game as the New York Giants interim coach, Kafka made a bold decision that ended up costing his team. Late in the fourth quarter, the Giants were stopped for a 4-yard loss on third-and-goal from the 2. Kafka decided to go for it on fourth down, rather than kicking a short field goal for a six-point lead. The Lions ended up tying the game with a long field goal and winning 34-27 in overtime. Kafka says he was trying to win the game and wanted to score as many points as possible.

New York Giants fire defensive coordinator Shane Bowen after blowing another late lead
SUMMARY: The New York Giants have fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, a person with knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press. The move made by interim coach Mike Kafka came after the team lost its sixth consecutive game to drop to 2-10 this season. The Giants have allowed over 27 points a game and have the second-worst run defense in the NFL. Kafka initially said after taking over when Brian Daboll was fired that he was not immediately making any other changes to his staff beyond promoting tight ends coach Tim Kelly to succeed him as offensive coordinator. Outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen was named as the interim replacement.

SUMMARY: Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears didn't have to face their old nemesis Aaron Rodgers to come away with a win. Williams threw for three touchdowns and the Bears beat the Steelers 31-28 on Sunday. Rodgers didn't play because of a broken left wrist. The longtime Packers QB has a 25-5 career record against the Bears. Chicago won for the eighth time in nine games to improve to 8-3. SUMMARY: Aaron Rodgers might own the Chicago Bears, but the Pittsburgh Steelers don't. Rodgers was sidelined by a broken left wrist on Sunday. Mason Rudolph started in his place and tried to rally the Steelers late, but they came up short in a 31-28 loss. Rodgers got hurt last week in a win over Cincinnati. Dak Prescott rallies Cowboys from 21 down to beat Eagles 24-21 after breaking Tony Romo's record
SUMMARY: Brandon Aubrey kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired after Dak Prescott rallied Dallas from a 21-point deficit and the Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21 in a mistake-filled thriller. The Cowboys converted on their third tiebreaking chance of the fourth quarter. The win extended Prescott’s home winning streak against NFC East opponents to 19 in Dallas' first game at AT&T Stadium since the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland. Raiders fire offensive coordinator Chip Kelly after their latest rough performance
SUMMARY: Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly has been fired after another poor offensive performance. The Raiders lost 24-10 to Cleveland on Sunday, allowing 10 sacks of Geno Smith. Coach Pete Carroll announced Kelly's dismissal just hours after the game. Carroll, in his first year with the Raiders, did not immediately name a new coordinator. Kelly reportedly received a $6 million contract, the highest for an NFL offensive coordinator. But the Raiders' offense ranks among the worst in the league, and it has regressed in recent weeks.
