US--Long Island Rail Road-Strike Threat

New York's commuter rail system averts possible strike as unions ask Trump for help

SUMMARY: A potential strike has been averted that could have shut down the nation’s largest commuter rail system this week. Workers for the Long Island Railroad say their members have voted Monday to authorize the unions to call a strike if an agreement on a new contract isn’t reached. But leaders of unions representing locomotive engineers, machinists, signalmen and other train workers say they’ve also asked President Donald Trump to form an emergency board that will push the possibility of a work stoppage out to January, at earliest. The transit system takes some 250,000 riders each work day to and from New York City and its eastern suburbs.

US--Youth Climate Lawsuit-Trump

Young activists won a landmark state climate trial. Now they're challenging Trump's orders

SUMMARY: Young climate activists and their attorneys who won a landmark global warming trial against the state of Montana are challenging President Donald Trump's energy agenda. During a two-day hearing starting Tuesday, the activists will try to convince a federal judge to block Trump’s executive orders promoting fossil fuels. They say the Republican’s stoking of global warming violates their constitutional rights. The U.S. Department of Justice and officials from 19 states and Guam want Judge Dana Christensen to dismiss the case. Legal experts say the young activists and their lawyers from the environmental group Our Children’s Trust face long odds in federal court.

US--Charlie Kirk-Shot-Shapiro

Pennsylvania governor says US must 'turn the tide' against political violence, reject vengeance

SUMMARY: Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania says that the nation must “turn the tide” against political violence and the belief that government can’t solve problems. The Democratic governor delivered the remarks Tuesday at the Eradicate Hate Global Summit in Pittsburgh, days after the assassination of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. Shapiro says political leaders must condemn all forms of political violence and reject the “rhetoric of vengeance." Shapiro and his family fled the governor’s office residence in the middle of the night in April after an alleged arsonist broke in and set it on fire in an attempt to kill Shapiro.

Elena Delle Donne takes on new role as USA Basketball's first 3-on-3 women's hoops managing director

SUMMARY: Elena Delle Donne has taken on a new role as USA Basketball's first managing director of the 3-on-3 women's national team. She has been intrigued by the sport since it entered the Olympics in 2021. Delle Donne, a former Olympic and WNBA star, has spent months learning about 3-on-3 basketball. Her first task is to assemble a team for the AmeriCup around Thanksgiving. The qualification system for the Olympics requires players to earn points in global tournaments. FBC--Wisconsin-Injuries

Wisconsin QB Billy Edwards Jr. is questionable to play vs. Maryland, his former team

SUMMARY: Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell says it’s still uncertain whether quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. will get a chance to face his former team when the Badgers host Maryland. Edwards has missed Wisconsin’s last two games after spraining his knee in the second quarter of a season-opening 17-0 victory over Miami (Ohio). Edwards transferred to Wisconsin after playing for Maryland from 2022-24. He was Maryland’s starting quarterback last season. Danny O’Neil has filled in as Wisconsin’s starting quarterback since Edwards’ injury. Fickell said center Jake Renfro’s status for the Maryland game on Saturday also is uncertain.

FBN--Browns-Analysis

New season, same frustrations for Garrett and Browns after 'embarrassing' loss

SUMMARY: Even though Myles Garrett signed a four-year contract extension worth $204.8 million with the Cleveland Browns instead of following through on his trade demand, his frustrations about the state of the franchise he has played for since being the first overall pick in 2017 haven’t subsided. The All-Pro pass rusher did not contain his anger after Sunday’s 41-17 loss at Baltimore that dropped Cleveland to 0-2 for the first time since 2018. The Browns have dropped eight straight going back to last season and have not scored more than 17 points in the past seven.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels has a knee injury and his status for game vs. Raiders is unknown

SUMMARY: Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is dealing with a knee injury, and coach Dan Quinn says the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year’s status for the team’s next game is up in the air. The Commanders host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Daniels had an MRI on his knee. Quinn said the player's status is considered day to day. Daniels was hurt in Washington’s 27-18 loss at the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. The second-year QB was sacked four times and faced pressure throughout the game from a blitz-heavy Packers' defense.

FBN--Ravens-Analysis

Lamar Jackson is now the NFL's career leader in passer rating. Ravens needed his arm vs. Browns

SUMMARY: After a slow start against Cleveland, Lamar Jackson finished with four touchdown passes and the Baltimore Ravens rolled to a 41-17 victory over the Browns. Cleveland held Derrick Henry to only 23 yards rushing, and Jackson himself didn’t do much running either. But the two-time MVP quarterback showed he can produce with his arm — even when nothing else is working. Jackson is now the NFL’s career leader in passer rating, having inched ahead of Aaron Rodgers by a fraction of a point. After throwing for 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions last season, Jackson has six TD passes and no turnovers through Week 2 in 2025.

Cowser hits 3-run homer and Orioles hand White Sox their 4th straight loss, 4-1

SUMMARY: Colton Cowser hit a three-run home run, Kyle Bradish pitched five strong innings and the Baltimore Orioles beat the White Sox 4-1 to extend Chicago’s skid to four games. Bradish made his fourth start since returning from Tommy John surgery and allowed a run on four hits with nine strikeouts. Dietrich Enns pitched three perfect innings with four strikeouts to earn his second save of the season. Jackson Holliday had two hits and a walk. Aaron Glenn insists Jets' confidence isn't shaken despite falling to 0-2 after ugly loss to Bills

SUMMARY: Aaron Glenn was disappointed in the New York Jets' performance in their 30-10 loss to Buffalo on Sunday when they struggled to challenge the Bills. Glenn acknowledged the impatience of media and fans Monday while likening it to instant coffee but emphasized the need for patience as the team rebuilds. Quarterback Justin Fields is in the concussion protocol and Tyrod Taylor might start against Tampa Bay. Glenn remains confident in the team's direction despite the 0-2 start. FBN--Giants-Analysis

Giants score more, but they are 0-2 going into their home opener against the Chiefs

SUMMARY: The New York Giants looked like an entirely different team in their 40-37 overtime loss at Dallas than their season opener when they scored just six points. But they still find themselves 0-2 after an ill-timed interception by Russell Wilson that marred an otherwise strong performance from the veteran quarterback and some mistakes on either side of the ball. The also-winless Kansas City Chiefs come to town Sunday night. Patrick Mahomes and the reigning AFC champions opened as 6-point favorites.

New York Rangers name J.T. Miller captain on the eve of training camp

SUMMARY: The New York Rangers have named J.T. Miller captain on the eve of the start of training camp. They did not have a captain for much of last season after trading Jacob Trouba to Anaheim. New York reacquired Miller in late January in a deal with Vancouver. FBN--On Football-Tush Push

Problems officiating the tush push could be the new argument to support banning it

SUMMARY: The Super Bowl rematch turned into bully ball highlighted by the NFL’s ugliest play. Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles pushed — literally — their way past Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, 20-17, on Sunday. Hurts scored a touchdown on a tush push and the Eagles used the play seven times to help hand the Chiefs their first three-game losing streak with Mahomes and send them to their first 0-2 start since 2014. The NFL tried to ban to the tush push following a proposal from the Green Bay Packers in the offseason but fell two votes short of eliminating it.

FBN--Eagles Analysis

Eagles lay down the smack talk and silence tush-push doubters on way to undefeated start

SUMMARY: Jalen Hurts has led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 2-0 start, despite some trash talk from Kansas City’s Chris Jones. The Eagles secured a 20-17 victory over the Chiefs, fueled by their strong defense. Hurts responded to Jones' comments about his stats by pointing to the scoreboard. Coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged the team's performance hasn't been perfect but praised its ability to win. The Eagles' tush-push play remains effective, despite attempts to ban it. Hurts' passing stats are modest, but the Eagles have protected the football. They face the Rams next, hoping for more explosive plays.

Rookie errors and coaching regrets shape outcomes for Colts, Broncos, Seahawks, Steelers

SUMMARY: Steelers rookie returner Kaleb Johnson made a costly mistake in Week 2 of the NFL season. He allowed a kickoff to roll into the end zone, where the Seahawks recovered it for a touchdown. This helped them beat Pittsburgh 31-17. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin called it "poor judgment." In another game, both the Broncos and Colts coaches admitted to errors. Broncos coach Sean Payton regretted calling for an aggressive attempt to block a 60-yard field goal. Colts coach Shane Steichen wished he had been more aggressive in play-calling. The Colts won 29-28 after a penalty gave them a second chance.
