US--Maryland-Mother Indicted

Mother of 2 missing children reindicted with murder after 11 years of psychiatric treatment

SUMMARY: A Maryland woman with a long history of severe mental illness has been rearrested and charged with killing two of her children. They went missing in 2014 as toddlers and have never been found. Prosecutors say Catherine Hoggle was released from a state-run psychiatric hospital last month. After her release, a grand jury reindicted her on two counts of first-degree murder, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. She was arrested Friday. Hoggle had been charged with murder previously in 2017 but the charges were dropped after the state failed to restore her mental competency within five years.

Owners of cargo ship that crashed into Baltimore bridge sue company that built vessel

SUMMARY: The owners of the cargo ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge are suing the company that built the vessel. The lawsuit filed in federal court in Pennsylvania last week alleges negligence in the design of a critical switchboard on the ship. Grace Ocean Private, the owners of the Dali, filed the lawsuit against Hyundai Heavy Industries in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Hyundai Heavy Industries could not immediately be reached for comment. Grace Ocean Private contends the switchboard was defectively designed in a manner that wiring connections were not secure.

FBN--The Old Guys

NFL longevity demands wisdom as much as determination and talent. These seasoned guys can explain

SUMMARY: NFL careers are notoriously short. Yet the young man's league still has some space for the most seasoned players. Wisdom is just as important to sticking around as determination and talent. There were 30 active players who were born in the 1980s when training camps opened. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the oldest at age 41. Minnesota Vikings free safety Harrison Smith is 36 and the only defensive back in the group. He has focused his training in recent years around joint mobility to simulate game situations in pursuit of endurance, strength and injury prevention.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley declines invitation to join Trump's sports council

SUMMARY: Saquon Barkley has declined an invitation to join President Donald Trump's council on sports, fitness, and nutrition. The council is being revitalized under an executive order that also reestablishes the Presidential Fitness Test for American children. Barkley, a standout player for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, was on a list with other sports personalities. Barkley explained Monday that he declined due to a busy schedule. Trump reestablished the fitness test last week, a program that began in 1966 but was phased out during the Obama administration. Barkley recently won the AP Offensive Player of the Year award.

BBO--Watching The Workload

MLB contenders watch for fatigue as some starters experience an increased workload

SUMMARY: At age 34, Matthew Boyd is going back to what was once familiar territory for the left-hander. He has logged 130 2/3 innings so far in his first season with the Cubs, more than he totaled in the previous two years combined. Boyd’s workload is worth watching as the Cubs fight for the NL Central title. He is among a group of pitchers going through a jump in innings in the middle of a playoff race. The days of predetermined innings limits, especially when it comes to young prospects, aren’t going away anytime soon. But more organizations appear to be going with a case-by-case approach.
