Dover-Michael, age 62, was born in Darby, PA on October 7, 1961, the son of George B. Jose and Polly Calhoun Jose. He attended elementary schools in Glenolden, PA and Erie, PA. He graduated from High School in Plymouth, MA. He studied marine biology at Southampton College, NY and graduated from Peninsula University in Washington State with a degree in Fisheries Technology.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years aboard the U.S. Fulton in Guam and Exmouth, Australia. He married fellow sailor Angie Ernhardt in Guam. They were together for 7 years.
Michael won an award from the Governor of Massachusetts in the 1990's for the largest saltwater fish caught in the state. Michael was a talented cartoonist and writer. His column on fishing was published for 6 months in the Massachusetts Fishing Magazine.
Michael is survived by his parents, Polly and George of Dover, DE; sister Jennifer, niece Rachel Rios, her husband Jonny Rios, and great nephew Blake T. Rios of Newport, ME; Aunts, Susan Moss of NYC and Tunia McClure of Washington, IN.
He was an active attender at Camden Friends Meeting in Camden, DE.
Michael died following a hit and run on the Dupont Highway on Friday, August 16th. He was walking along the shoulder carrying bait and tackle; it seems likely that he was going fishing.
