Melissa A. 'Missy' Swift, 40

GEORGETOWN - Melissa A. "Missy" Swift, of Georgetown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 40. Melissa was born in Milford, daughter of William Burton Webb and Clara Ann (Taylor) Webb, who reside in Georgetown. Missy worked with Omni Bank in the collections department and was the bookkeeper for their families business, Swift Construction. Missy was a 1987 graduate of Sussex Central High School and attended Delaware Tech for two years, receiving her degree in the business technologies. Melissa was very involved with her family, especially her two boys, whom she loved watching play baseball. She served as Treasurer for Pop Warner and Little League in Georgetown and volunteered at the boys school PTA group. She was involved with St. Paul's U.M. Church in Laurel and the First Baptist Church in Georgetown. In addition to her parents, Missy is survived by her husband of 16 years, Norman; two sons, Joshua Owens Swift and Jacob William Swift, both at home; a sister, Dawn Lyn Davis; paternal grandmother, Mary Catherine Rogers; maternal grandmother, Mary Moreland; mother and father-in-law, Gordy and Betty Swift; a niece, Sara Davis; and dogs, Daisy and Jack. A funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 14, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, 601 N. Dupont Highway, Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Rev. Rod Dufour and Rev. Donald Murray will officiate. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Melissa's memory can be made to: Friends of Missy Swift, M & T Bank, ATTN: Jason Joseph, 499 Mitchell Street, Millsboro, DE 19966. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
