Flood Statement

National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC

934 PM EDT Wed May 14 2025

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in

Maryland...

Conococheague Creek at Fairview affecting Washington County.

For the Conococheague Creek...including Fairview...Minor flooding is

forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive

cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the

dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.

The next statement will be issued Thursday morning at 945 AM EDT.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL EARLY TOMORROW AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Conococheague Creek at Fairview.

* WHEN...Until early tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 12.0 feet, Water approaches homes north of

Williamsport. Some homes and a campground will also be cut off

from access due to flooded roads, but the homes themselves are not

flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- At 8:45 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 11.5 feet, or 1.5 feet

above flood stage.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours

ending at 8:45 PM EDT Wednesday was 11.8 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage

tomorrow morning and continue falling to 6.4 feet Saturday

evening.

- Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of

11.5 feet on 03/15/1986.
