Mayor Cupcake: Movie night in Bridgeville July 19

BRIDGEVILLE – Friday, July 19 is movie night in the Town of Bridgeville, the setting for much of the filming of Mayor Cupcake.

There is free admission to view the baker’s dozen celebration of Mayor Cupcake, the 2011 comedy film which stars Lea Thompson, Judd Nelson, Dorian Harewood, and Frankie Faison, and was directed by local businessman Alex Pires.

The movie can be viewed in the Bridgeville Public Library at 600 South Cannon Street and outdoors at Passwaters Park.

Attendees are welcome to bring chairs and blankets for viewing comfort.

There will be food trucks, popcorn and cupcakes.

It is sponsored by The Insurance Market, Community Bank Delaware and SoundFX Carshow.

The movie centers on a hard-working cupcake maker who inadvertently is elected mayor of a small town burdened with debt. Uneducated, she relies on her street smarts to clean up the town.

Besides Bridgeville, filming for the movie was done in Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach.
