HARRINGTON - Maxine L. Cessna, of Harrington, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial. She was 66. She was born in Tylertown, Miss., to the late Otis and Helen Crain. Mrs. Cessna was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts and working in her garden, tending to her many flowers. She was a great cook, and all the family looked forward to their birthdays, as they knew she cooked them a grand dinner. Mrs. Cessna had a bubbly personality, but she was also a very determined person. Dealing with her doctors on numerous visits, she was not shy in telling them, "I ain't doing that." Her green thumb and stubbornness were honest traits passed along to her by her Mississippi father. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Cessna; and a sister, LaDonnis Sharp. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Harold "Joe" Cessna of Harrington; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Karen Cessna of Harrington; brother, Darrell Crain of Durham, N.C.; sister, Docalee Garrison of VanCleave, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Katherine Cessna. Services were Wednesday, June 17, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation was held Tuesday. Burial was in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
