MILFORD - Mathew Paul Carter, age 28, of Milford, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Georgetown. He was born Oct. 12, 1982, in Baltimore, Md., son of John H. Carter Sr. and Cissy (Kammerzell) Carter of Lewes. Mat was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School class of 2000 and a graduate of Delaware Technical and Community College. Mat was a loving husband and father. He was an avid sports enthusiast who was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens. He enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and XBox games with friends. He also loved riding his motorcycle. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Dawn Marie (Hyett) Carter; his son, Lucas Scott Carter; brother, John H. Carter Jr. of Lewes; one sister, Jennifer A. Carter of Lewes, his mother-in-law, Connie Willoughby of Milton; sister-in-law, Tiffany Edwards and her husband Ray Edwards of Milton; godson and nephew, Dale Edwards; three nieces, Maren Edwards, Natali and Alexis Carter; and nephew Tommy Carter. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit with the family beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to County Bank, ATTN: Karen Mumford, 19927 Shuttle Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
