MARYDEL - Maryann J. Beck, 47, of Marydel, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, in her home with family by her side after a long battle with lung cancer. She was born on Dec. 3, 1961, in Dover to the late William and Virginia Ostrowski Wales. Maryann was a homemaker and worked as a kitchen leader at Hardee's for 16 years. She was a huge NASCAR fan, her greatest driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She cheered him on while attending the races at Dover. She loved spending time with her feline son, Pepper-Kitty, and canine and feline grandchildren, Nanah and Jasmine. She was a major enthusiast and collector of Lighthouses. Her favorite was the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, James C. Beck of Marydel; son and his wife, Gary and Christina Wales of Marydel; brother and his wife, Bernard and Linda Wales of Hartly; brother and his wife, William A. and Esther Wales, III of Clayton; brother and his wife, Jerry and Stephanie Wales of Bowers; sister and her husband, Madeline and Dennis Collins of Smyrna; special niece, Virginia E. Collins-Martin and spouse; four nephews and four nieces,and spouses and three great-nephews and two great-nieces. Mass of Christian Burial Services will be noon Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover. Burial will be at the Sharon Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Trader Funeral Home in Dover. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street Dover, DE 19901 to help with funeral expenses.
