Mary G. Ponder, 93 MASSEY, Md. - Mary G. Ponder, 93, of Massey, died May 2, 2010, in Compassionate Care Hospice Home, Wilmington, Del. Mrs. Ponder was born on Jan. 29, 1917, in Wilmington, Del., daughter of the late Perce and Sarah Ann Davis Sullivan. She had lived in Warwick, West Virginia and for the last 30 years in Massey. Mrs. Ponder was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Warwick, and the Lower Cecil County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed giving tours at Mt. Harmon in Earleville, doing word search puzzles and going to yard sales. Mrs. Ponder was preceded by her husband of 65 years, Stewart Ponder in 2003. She is survived by two daughters, Sara G. England of Wilmington, and Patricia Ann Rossiter of Georgetown, Del.; seven grandchildren including a grandson whom she raised Donald Spinden, and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., where friends may call after 10 a.m. Inurnment will be held privately in Massey Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 11 Independence Way, Newark, DE 19713.
