Mary Emma Bottomley Pearson

MILLINGTON, Md. - Mary Emma Bottomley Pearson, 96, of Millington, died Feb. 19, 2011, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. Mrs. Pearson was born on July 24, 1914, daughter of the late Harry and Agnes Pinion Bottomley. She was a lifetime resident of Millington where she raised her nine children. Mrs. Pearson was a life member of the Millington VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at the Elsmere VA Hospital, knitting lap blankets and crossword puzzles. Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Pearson in 1986; a son, Earl "Butch' Pearson; a daughter, Hope Blackwell; her siblings, Edward, Roland, Thomas, Paul, John and Earl Bottomley, Anna 'Sis' Buckingham, Mattie McKinney and Myrtle Maule; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Orff. She is survived by seven children, Eva Comegys of Sudlersville, Mattie Atkinson (Robert) of Clayton, Del., Leroy 'Sonny' Pearson (Betty) of Nottingham, Pa., Esther Garvine (Robert) of Townsend, Del., Joan Simpler (William) of Millington, Karen Price (Alan) of Galena, and Roger Pearson (Betty) of Clayton, Del.; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial in Asbury Cemetery, Millington. Memorials may be offered to the Millington Ambulance Fund, P.O.
