Mary Elyn Massey

Mary Elyn Massey, age 97, peacefully passed away on October 11, 2024 in Dover, Delaware. She was born on August 31, 1927 in Cheswold, Delaware to Thomas and Mildred B. Marker. Mary Elyn and her sisters, Ann and Patricia grew up happily on American Avenue in Dover, Delaware until she met and married George Massey of Dover in 1951.Together they raised four children Tucker, George, Suzan and Gordon.
Over the years, Mary Elyn worked at various positions in the Dover business community, and the State of Delaware Court of Common Pleas, for Judge Merrill Trader. She also worked in Washington DC for US Senator J. Allen Frear. She enjoyed this wonderful opportunity and loved recounting stories about this time of her Life.
Mary Elyn was preceded in death by her parents, husbands George and Gordon Massey, daughter Tucker Elyn Massey Turnbull and sister Ann Piper. She is survived by children George C. Massey, Suzan Valentine Massey Olenik (Andrew), and Gordon S.T. Massey (Gretchen), son in law Kerry Turnbull, and grandchildren George C. Massey, Michael C. Delany (Rebecca), Jennifer A. Pierce (George), Benjamin S. Voshell (Rebecca), Bethany F. Voshell (Jared), Gordon Slay Tucker Massey (Anna), Hunter S, Massey (Megan) and Jakosh Turnbull.
Services will be held 1:00pm, Monday, October 21st, 2024, at Christ Episcopal Church, 523 S. State Street, Dover, Delaware. Friends and family may visit one hour prior. The interment will be in the Christ Episcopal Churchyard.
