MIDDLETOWN - Mary Ellen "Mary Lynn" Shane, of Middletown, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at 84 years of age. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ellen Alexander. Mary Lynn, as she was affectionately known by many, was born on March 5, 1927, in Millington, Md. Mary Lynn was a hairdresser for more than 50 years. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness for 41 years and loved her vast spiritual family. She will fondly be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by ten brothers; five sisters; two sons, Harry and Lee Alfree; a daughter and son-in-law, Adele and Rick Garey; and a grandson, Bryan Ellis. Mary Lynn is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Franklin D. Shane; a son, John M. Alfree (Leah); two daughters, Carol A. Ellis (Jim) and Jay Lynn Shane (Cliff); a brother, John Alexander (Mary Ellen); 11 grandchildren and their spouses; 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services and interment will be private. A Memorial Service will be held 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 173 Noxontown Road in Middletown.
