Mary Ellen Lucas

DOVER - Mary Ellen Lucas, of Dover, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 78. She was born Aug. 8, 1932, in Mann, W.Va., to the late Albert John Hartman and Martha Ann Hatfield-Hartman. Mary was a homemaker and most enjoyed spending time with her family, watching the Philadelphia Phillies, and the late night old black and white movies. She also enjoyed puzzle books. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; and five brothers. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Sr.; her six children, Wilsa Coker and her husband Lee of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Albert Lucas and Cindy of Hockensville, Ga., Donald Lucas, Jr. and his wife Kandy of Dover, Howard Lucas and Lisa of Smyrna, David Lucas of Dover, and Helen Williams and her husband Tom of St. Clairsville; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; over 100 nieces and nephews; and one brother, Howard Hartman. A viewing will be 9 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
