HARRINGTON - Mary Ellen Henderson was born April 20, 1946 at Milford Hospital to mother, Lulu Marie "Sis" Perry-Russ. Mary departed this life on Thurs., July 18, 2013 at Bayhealth-Dover. Mary graduated from James H. Grove in Woodside, Del. She retired from Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital after 30 years of service as a Nurse Assistant. Mary was a faithful member of St. Paul AME church in Harrington, Delaware. Mary was a true compassionate caregiver who faithfully assisted numerous families with personal care of their loved ones. She served as treasurer for the Sunshine Foundation (Grant a wish for terminally-ill children). Mary loved spending time with family and friends. Her favorite pass time was playing Bingo and riding around with Cousin Cathy just because. She was a collector of Ethnic/African American figurines; especially Angels. Mary was preceded in death by her, mother Lulu "Sis" Perry-Russ and a brother, William Conaway. She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Cecelia Russ of Smyrna, Del. and Theresa Henderson of Harrington, Del.; two brothers, Harold Russ Sr. and Samuel Russ (Lula) of Indianapolis, Ind..; a sister-in law, Shirley Conaway of Harrington, Del.; two uncles, Harold Perry (Mary) of Frederica, Del., Issac Perry (Yvonne) of Harrington, Del.; four grandchildren, Ceirra Hopkins (Shawn) of Cheswold, Del., DeShawn Dixon (Jessica) of Smyrna, Del. and CaSondra Russ of Smyrna, Del.; three great grandchildren, Jerome Jenifer III, DeShawn Dixon Jr. and Isaiah Dixon; one Godson, Jason James of Wilmington, Del.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Homegoing services will be noon Wed., July 24, 2013 at Frontline Ministries 516 Jeffric Blvd., Dover; where friends may visit two hours prior to service.
