DOVER - Mary Ella Bothell, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Nov. 17, 1917, Ella was the daughter of Elmer Jacob and Mary Ella Bryant. She married Joseph F. Bothell Jr. in 1938 and they shared 68 happy years together before he passed away in 2006. They farmed 209 acres near Clayton for 10 years before moving to California. Ella taught Sunday school at the Smyrna Presbyterian Church and was active in 4-H. She was a talented and resourceful homemaker, an accomplished seamstress and loved to travel, especially if it involved camping. Although she worked in many different fields during her lifetime, Ella devoted her life to raising her four children, Joseph F. Bothell III, William R. Bothell, Richard A. Bothell and daughter, Charlotte M. Cherriman. She was happiest when spending time with her family which included 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Although we will miss her dearly, her love and service to others will live on in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Alzheimers Association or Delaware Hospice. You are invited to visit with family and friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 3, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Funeral service will follow. Interment will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills, Pa. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
