GEORGETOWN - Mary Elizabeth Parker passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Renaissance Healthcare in Millsboro. Mrs. Parker was born in Lewes, daughter to the late Ira and Carrie (Wilson) Adams. She spent her entire life living in Sussex County. Her and her ten siblings grew up in Laurel and she later settled with her husband in Georgetown, where they owned and operated Eastern Greenhouses, until they retired in 1978. Mary enjoyed gardening, crocheting and square dancing. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Parker, Sr., in 1996; three sons: Jerry F. Parker, William M. Parker and Ben Parker, Jr.; two sisters: Madelyn Mitchell and Edna Adams; a brother, William Adams; and daughter-in-law: Sandy Parker. She is survived by four children: George L. Parker and wife Donna, of Lewes, Alvah L. Parker, of Millsboro, Zane L. Parker and partner Mohamed Hammad, and Cheryl A. Parker, all of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and seven siblings: James Adams, of Laurel, Gertrude Shockley, of Frankford, Eva Rimel, of Wichita, Kansas, Alton N. Adams, Nelson Adams, Sally Wharton, all of Laurel, and Lois Truitt, of Bridgeville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
