Mary Elizabeth Louise Riley Hill

Louise Riley Hill, 82 LEWES - Mary Elizabeth Louise Riley Hill (known as Lib), age 82, of Lewes, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Elizabeth was born July 30, 1929, to the late Ida Mae Riley Carter, Lewes. Elizabeth received her early education at Lewes Junior High School, Lewes. She later attended Southern High School in Philadelphia. In 1958, at the age of 28, Elizabeth met and married Emory L. Hill of Quitman, Georgia (who at that time) recently moved to Lewes. In total, Elizabeth has lived in Lewes for more than 75 years. Elizabeth worked at Sport Kraft-Dressco factory in Lewes, for 26 years. After its closing she worked as a domestic in Lewes, and local surrounding areas. In her later years she became employed at the former Lewes Convalescent Center as a dietary aide. Elizabeth was member of the Eastern Star and St. George AME Church in Lewes, she was a faithful member and attended services regularly, until her health made it difficult for her attend. Elizabeth is well known throughout the community. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, Emory L. Hill; two sons, Kenneth A. Riley and friend Diane Baeta of Montgomery, Md., Troy A. and Michelle Brittingham of Wilmington; one daughter, Brenda J. Fountain and friend John Hall of Milton; five grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Meade of Smyrna, Martha Heagy of Newark; one brother, William "Bill" Carter of Wilmington; a very close lifetime friend whom she thought of as a sister, Cora R. Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at St. George AME Church, 317 Park Ave., Lewes, where a visitation will be two hours prior. Rev. Gerald H. Hesson will officiate.
