Mary Chesney Brown

Sudlersville, MD - Mary Chesney Brown formerly of Church Hill, Md., died March 19, 2016 in her sons home. Mrs. Brown was born on Nov. 23, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Thompson Kenny Chesney and Julia Anna Evans Chesney. In 1942 her family moved to Still Pond. She was a 1948 graduate of Chestertown High School and class president during her senior year. She married in 1950 and moved to Church Hill where she and her husband owned and operated a farm. Mrs. Brown was a dental tech for Dr. Grabiec in Centerville, and later worked for Church Hill Lumber Co. retiring at the age of 65. She later worked for LaMotte Chemical in Chestertown retiring at the age of 80. Mrs. Brown was member of Church Hill United Methodist Church, where she had served on every committee, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a Lay Speaker. She was a life member of Queen Anne's County PTA. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, her kindle and was a regular at Sudlersville Library. Along with her parents she was precede in death by her husband of 27 years, William Thomsen Brown, Sr. in 1977; a brother, Thompson Kenny 'T.K.' Chesney, Jr and 2 sisters, Audrey Feheley and Jo Anne Ervin. Mrs. Brown is survived by her sons, William Thomsen Brown, Jr. (Sharon) of Sudlersville, Fred Leon Brown (Verne) of Still Pond and Richard Arthur Brown of Church Hill; a brother, Bruce Chesney of Landon, S.C.; three grandchildren, Vivian April Frank, Tisha Nicholson and Theodore Zubrant and six great-grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Brandon Geras, Willie Brown, Savannah Mary Frank, Tyler Gregg and Justin Gregg. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23 from 11 to 12 in Church Hill United Methodist Church, 508 Main St. Church Hill, Md., where funeral service will begin at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Sudlersville Library, your local fire department or Compass Regional Hospice. Arrangements by Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L.
