Schobelock, 100 MILFORD - Mary Catherine Schobelock, 100 years of age, died May 2, 2012, at Milford Center. Born December 14, 1911, in Chillicothe, Ohio, Mary Catherine, known by many as "Deede", was a Milford resident for close to 90 years. She celebrated her 100th birthday in December 2011 and received a special proclamation from the City of Milford commemorating her milestone birthday as well as a personal note of congratulations from the President of the United States, Barack Obama. A graduate of Milford High School, Miss Schobelock worked at L.D. Caulk Company in both the accounting and business offices, before continuing her career at Playtex International in Dover for nearly 20 years. Active in the community, Mary Catherine used her knowledge of corporate governance and accounting practices to support local charities and organizations. She was a member and past President of a women's professional business organization. She also volunteered for many activities at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Milford; such as the St. Vincent DePaul Society, a charity organization, as well as assisting with church office responsibilities. In both church and community matters she was relied upon because of her prodigious memory of past facts, dates and activities. She is survived by her brother, Col. John V. Schobelock of Sebastian, Fla.; two nieces; and three nephews. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, with a rosary to follow. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford. Burial will follow in the Milford Community Cemetery on North Walnut Street. Condolences may be emailed at www.delmarvaobits.com/rogers.
