Mary Bridget Carey

SMYRNA - Mary Bridget Carey passed away on Jan. 29, 2019 at her home.
She was born July 7, 1950 in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of the late John Carey and Dorothy Kling Carey.
She earned an AA degree in accounting. Right out of high school, she started as a file clerk for the FBI and ended as a financial analyst for the Home Loan and Bank Board and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
She lived in various places throughout her life, including Rockford, Ill., Washington D.C., Prince George's and Calvert County, Md., and Smyrna.
Cruising was her main source of enjoyment but she also enjoyed land travel.
She attended St. Polycarp Catholic Church and was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary in Calvert County, Md. as well as an investment club in Southern Md. She was always giving to charities and was involved in the Our Ladies of Charity of Calvert County, Md.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Taubert, of Smyrna; her step-sons, Mark Taubert and wife Jennifer, and Bobby Taubert and wife Nancy; a daughter, Carrie Taubert; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Karl Carey and wife Louise, and Larry Carey.
She was predeceased by two step-daughters, Marie and Virginia; and her pet, Mighty Mouse Taubert.
A visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at St. Polycarp Church, 55 Ransom Lane, Smyrna. Burial will be privately held at Old Bohemia Cemetery, Warwick, Md.
