Smyrna - Mary A. Cavuto of, Smyrna, Del., formerly a long time resident of Wilmington, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014. Mrs. Cavuto was born Mariantonia Antionetta D'Emilio in the Province of Pescara, Abruzzo Region, Italy on Aug. 21, 1910 and came to the United States at the age of 6. She married her husband, Louis, in 1925 and became devoted to her family and supporting her husband's shoe shop, which was attached to their home on Vandever Avenue in Wilmington. Her interests included knitting, sewing and, canning. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church in Wilmington, Del. She had the most generous and loving heart, always had a saying about life's challenges and touched many lives with her presence. She always had a pot on the stove, which you could smell in the shop. "Mangia" was her cry of love and she treasured every day, holiday and Sundays at the beach house with her family as they gathered around the table to enjoy it. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. "Oh, where does the time go? Over the mountain"! Her husband of 67 years, Louis T. Cavuto, passed away in 1992. She was also predeceased by her daughters, Lucy Linder and Roseanne Petrillo. Mrs. Cavuto is survived by her daughters, Florence Singer, Marie Harrington and Louise Carrow (husband, Walter); 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 from 9:00-10:00a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
