SEAFORD - Mary A. Carpenter, 89, of Seaford, passed away on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 at Life Care at Lofland Park in Seaford. She was born on July 7, 1921 in Lewes, Del. and was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Ella Blizzard Carpenter. Ms. Carpenter graduated from Lewes High School, class of 1940. She was employed at Fort Miles during World War II, but most of her adult life, she was an Avon Products Representative. She is survived by a brother, James Foster Carpenter of Cambridge; two nieces, JoAnne Kelly of Georgetown, Mass., and Jane Bowers of Hurlock; four nephews, John E. Carpenter of Washington, D.C., Gary Williams of Cambridge, Glen Williams of Milton, Del. and Geoffrey Williams of San Francisco. Besides her parents, Ms. Carpenter is preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Williams of Lewes, Del. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Lewes, D., with Rev. Steve Trice officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Life Care at Lofland Park, 715 King Street, Seaford, DE 19973. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD.
