Marvin Issac McCabe

FRANKFORD - Marvin Issac McCabe passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford at the age of 77. Marvin was born the son of the late William "Bill" and Eva McCabe. He was a carpenter by trade. He served six years in the U.S. Army and twenty four years in the Delaware National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company. He had a passion for re-finishing furniture and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his siblings, Walt McCabe and Debbie Davis. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Louise (Rickards) McCabe; two sons, Steve and his wife Cathy, of Dagsboro, Jerry and his wife Cindy, of Frankford; a daughter, Denise Coar and her husband David, of Georgetown. Marvin was a loving and devoted "Pop-Pop" to his four granddaughters, Kristen, Courtney, Lindsay and Shanna. He also leaves behind his brothers, Ralph, Bill, Vaughn and Sewell McCabe; sisters, Mary Marvel, Enid Stein, Peggy Hickman, Jean Wharton and Lisa Vickers along with 75 nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, DE.; where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Frankford Volunteer Fire Co, PO Box 99, Frankford, DE. 19945, or the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE. 19963.
