Martin Frank Kreider, 84
MILFORD - Martin Frank Kreider, of Milford, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, after happily celebrating his 84th birthday with his family.
Martin was born May 21, 1924, in Lancaster, Pa., son of the late Ammon Kauffman Kreider and Elizabeth Zimmerman Miller Kreider.
He was a member of the Milford Church of God, which he attended for many years.
Martin was a retired plumbing, heating and electrical contractor. Although he no longer performed those services, he was proud of the fact that he still maintained those licenses.
He spent his last years enjoying watching TV pastors, evangelists and singers. He taped many services and shows as he could find VHS tapes and DVDs. He loved watching his beloved Gaithers and was watching them just prior to his death.
Martin's world revolved around the Bible and he would spend hours talking about the prophecies of the Bible and how they were being fulfilled.
His greatest passion in life was to see that everyone came to know the Lord and was ready for his soon coming.
Martin's other pastime was shopping at Wal-Mart - and a more ardent fan they never had.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Viola Ellen (Troyer) Kreider; and two sisters, Ethel Miller Zeager and Ruth Elizabeth Longnecker.
He is survived by two sons, Martin Wayne Kreider and wife Sue of Montville, Pa., and Michael Dean Kreider and wife Janet of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Karen May Sapp and husband Bill of Harrington and Sharon Fay Wink and husband Gerry of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Elmer Longnecker of Chambersburg, Pa., and Raymond Troyer of Dover; two sisters-in-law, Alma Troyer of Staunton and Alma Schrock and husband Elvin of Greenwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Milford Church of God, 500 N. Walnut St., where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the Milford Community Cemetery.
Arrangements handled by Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
