Marlin J. (Jake) Hoster passed peacefully at home on December 2nd, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was born September 16th, 1931 to Edna and George Hoster in Reading, Pennsylvania and is the last survivor of ten children.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1972 as a Chief Master Sergeant with twenty-two years of service. He was stationed at Robbins Air Force Base in 1952 when he met his loving wife, Mary E. Hoster (Davis) and together they had four children, Kathryn, Linda, Debbie, and Mark. His service included tours in both the Vietnam and Korean wars. After retirement, he worked at Marty's Mobile Homes for several years before opening his own business, Hoster Homes. Additionally, he continued to volunteer at Dover Air Force Base in the pharmacy and eye clinic. He also dedicated his time volunteering with Kent-Sussex Industries. In his later years, he enjoyed walking in the trails at Brecknock Park, trips to Spence's Bazaar, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He especially loved spoiling his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with multiple bowls of ice cream every time they visited.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Mary; his daughters, Kathryn Roe, Linda Rowley, and Debbie (Billy) Cline; and his grandchildren, Joshua (Patricia) Rowley, Christopher Stubbs, Eric (Megan) Cline, Jennifer Roe, Ashley (Nate) Whitecomb, Katelyn Williams, Christopher Roe, Brittany Hoster, and Laura Rowley. He also adored his seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Max, Alex, Miles, Austin, Madelyn, and Izabella. He was preceded in death by his nine brothers and sisters; his son, Mark R. Hoster; and his son-in-law, Paul C. Rowley.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Trader Funeral Home (12 Lotus St. Dover, DE 19901) with funeral services to follow at 11 am.
