MILFORD - Marlene passed away peacefully at home under the care of her loving husband and Delaware Hospice on October 5, 2023. She was born October 29, 1937 in Hartford, Kansas as the only child to the late Wilber and Margaret Walliser.
She grew up living on the farm and helping her parents with the many chores that needed to be done daily. Marlene loved music and learned to play piano at an early age. She played for many of the school student groups and activities. Following high school, she left home. She worked for the National Security Agency (NSA) as a civilian employee for more than 25 years.
Marlene also loved to travel and meet new people. Her federal career gave her the opportunity to live in several countries including England and Japan. While living abroad, she was a stay at home mom and raised her four children.
She married Fred Lake, Sr. in 2013 and they enjoyed many traveling adventures together as "Road Scholars."
Private services will be held in her hometown of Hartford, Kansas.
