Mark Allen Kropiewnicki

Mark Allen Kropiewnicki, 47 NEWPORT - Mark Allen Kropiewnicki, 47, of Newport, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13, at Christiana Medical Center surrounded by his loving wife, children, parents, siblings and parents-in-law. Mark was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church in Newport. Mark was born in Greenville, S.C., in 1962 and moved with his Air Force family to Dover, Delaware in 1965. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, in 1981, and went on to study business at Delaware State University in Dover. For many years, Mark worked in restaurant management. More recently, Mark took great pride in working for MBNA America. He later worked for Bank of America and had enormous success at both institutions working in the Business Lending Collections department, as well as the Mortgage Lending division. Mark was repeatedly recognized at the bank for his achievements and was single handedly responsible for decreases in charge-off rates, which enabled personal and corporate success. Mark and Crystal, his devoted wife of 23 years, were blessed with four beautiful children. Mark was a loving and wonderful husband, father and son. He instilled in his children a strong sense of faith, responsibility, and charity to others. Everyone who knew Mark appreciated his sense of humor. He took great pleasure in making people laugh. To know Mark was to love him. Mark ensured that the Kropiewnicki household was one in which family and friends were always welcome. Mark loved to cook and shared his gift of cooking with others. He took great pleasure in seeing the enjoyment it provided to so many people. Mark enjoyed bowling, darts, listening to music, dancing, and loved playing cards and Scrabble with family and friends. Mark also had a passion for knowledge and enjoyed history, documentaries and Jeopardy. As a classic car lover, Mark took pride in having previously owned two vintage 1968 Mustangs. The family would like to thank the following doctors: Dr. Eugene Glavin, Dr. Wesley Emmons, Dr. Kimberly Steele and especially Dr. Francis Palermo and Dr. Jarred Hossack who were not only Mark's doctors, but his friends. Also, we would like to thank all the nurses and staff of Christiana Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Crystal and their four children, Joseph of Bear, Kelly and the twins, Stephen and Robert, all at home. He is also survived by his loving parents, Matthew and Rita Kropiewnicki of Dover; a brother, Matthew of Cochranville, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Clauser and her husband, Francis of Dover; a sister, Ann Rider, her husband, Ronald and their children, Ronald and Natalie, all of Dover; and a brother, Chris of Wilmington. Mark is also survived by his loving parents-in-law, Charles and Carol Orr of Saegertown, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Craig Orr of Severna Park, Md.; and a brother-in-law, Chip Orr, his wife, Traci and their children, Audrey and Eliana, all of Dallas, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington. Condolences may be made by visiting www.chandlerfuneralhome.com.
