DOVER - Marjorie Minner Lane was born Sept. 30, 1916. The only child of the late Jennie M. and Dawson G. Minner of Magnolia. She died on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Westminster Village Health Care Center, Dover. She was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1934, and attended Beacom College. An avid Republican she was a past President of the Kent County Republican Women's Club and also served as Secretary, a former member of the State Committee, and a former Committee woman from her District, a past President of the Dover Business Professional Women's Club of the Y and also served as Secretary and Treasurer, a former member of Jr. Board of Kent General Hospital and a Member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Federica Adult Center. She was a life time member of the Kent County Republican Women's Club and a member of the Roundtable Club. Mrs. Lane enjoyed Olde Dover Days and was a costumed hostess for many years. She was employed in the State Treasurer's Office, several years in the Corporation Division of the Secretary of State's Office and then with the Division of Public Health from which she retired. Her husband, Thomas J. Lane, Sr. died in 1991. She is survived by a son and his wife, Thomas J. Lane Jr. and Jane; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Lane and Tracey Lane, all of Magnolia. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday evening, Aug. 18, 2009, at Trader Funeral Home, Inc., 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
