DOVER - Marjorie L. Scott, formerly Marjorie L. Burrows, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at the Silver Lake Center in Dover.
She was born On May 7, 1934, in Tampa, Fla., the daughter of the late Burks and Margaret Rentz. Marjorie was born into a military family and married in kind. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she provided inspiration while performing on stage for the USO during the Korean War.
Always willing to show her support, Marjorie found herself in Delaware and became a pioneer as a woman in the 1960's balancing two families and an iconic business, Sambo's Tavern named after her late husband Samuel C. Burrows. She loved to travel, she was creative and artistic in nature and she loved to share her paintings with her family and her grandchildren. She was a colorful and generous woman with a beautiful spirit who fulfilled many different roles in her lifetime. She was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel C. Burrows of Leipsic, and Lonnie B. Scott of Dover; her brother, Gordon; and her sister, Connie.
She is survived by five children, Neill Thompson, Neicy Ackerman, Lee Goebner, Robbin Myslinski and Drew Thompson; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Mailer; her brother, Charles Brown; and extended family and friends.
Services will be privately held at a later date.
