Marie Luisa Hitchens

Marie Luisa Hitchens was received by the Lord at the age of 80 with her family by her side on Fri., Feb. 20, 2015. Marie was born on Jan. 2, 1935 and is originally from New York. She was the daughter of the late Pierre and Maria DeLinois. While attending St. Mary's school of the Deaf in Buffalo NY, she was a child care supervisor and amazing basketball player. After graduating St. Mary's she was an extremely talented seamstress, house wife, and stay at home grandmother. She was a beautiful, witty, strong, kind hearted, fashionable woman. Her greatest joy was making her family happy. Marie had an outgoing personally and was well liked/loved by many. Marie enjoyed making crochet blankets, watching movies, sweets, and her favorite holiday was Christmas with her family. Everyone who knows her can say she was full of life with a witty sense of humor and was always the life of the party. Marie is survived by James, her husband of 43 years; her son, John DeLinois; and her daughters, Linda Weeks, Judy Goddard, Susan Hitchens, and Dorothy Hitchens. She is also survived by her siblings, George DeLinois, Nicole Couseillant, Rosemarie Ruiz, and her late sister Teresa Costsifas. Marie had a total of 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and took-in and cared for many other children throughout her life. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 28, 2015 at Tobert Funeral Home 1145 E. Lebanon Rd Dover, DE 19904. Viewing will be held from 12-2 p.m. Burial will be held private.
