MILFORD - Marie Hill Currey of Bonita Springs, Fla. died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Frances Georgeson Hospice House in Naples, FL. Formerly of Milford, Delaware, she had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2004. Marie was born August 27, 1919 in Felton, Del. a daughter of the late Harry C. and Myrtle H. (Reynolds) Hill. In Delaware she had been an active member of the Diamond State Twirlers Square Dancers for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling and RVing. Together with her late husband they were partners who built a successful local television repair business in Del-Mor TV. She had a talent for painting, was a skilled seamstress and loved sewing, knitting and crocheting items for her family. After moving to Florida, she lived at Imperial Harbor for several years before becoming a resident of Emeritus Senior Living. She enjoyed nature walks and exercised daily to stay fit. She participated in Red Hat Ladies activities and had a "pro" bowling status in Wii video gaming. She was an avid card player, loved reading and playing dominos. She also volunteered her time at the local Lions Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Franklin Currey in 2000; two sons F. Eugene Currey in 1999 and Donald Lee Currey in 1985; and siblings, M. Betty Ortali, Robert W. Hill and Doris L. Johnson. Marie is survived by her four grandchildren, Sherrie L. Lech and her husband Eugene of Alma, Ark.; Tod F. Currey of Slaughter Beach, Del.; D. Lee Currey and his wife Stephanie of Cockeysville, Md..; Shaina L. Gillespie and her husband David of Slaughter Beach, Del.; and six great grandchildren Jennifer Lech of Bradenton, Fla.; Michael Lech of Fayetteville, Ark..; Caroline Currey and Matthew Currey of Cockeysville, Md..; Quinn Currey and Tyler Gillespie of Slaughter Beach, Del. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Berry-Short Funeral Home 119 N.W. Front St. Milford, where family and friends may call. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the American Heart Association.
