Marie D. West

GEORGETOWN - Marie D. West passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 at Harrison Senior Living. She was born in Federalsburg, Md. on June 8, 1936 to the late Agnes (nee Douglas) Dukes and Charles Earl Dukes. She was one of seven children.
She graduated from Federalsburg High in 1954. Bill and Marie were married 63 years. Marie enjoyed her grandchildren. She enjoyed country music and dancing on weekends. Marie enjoyed life and her family.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded by her siblings, Esther Wheatley, Lynn Trice, and Pete Dukes.
She is survived by her husband, William I. "Bill" West; son, William E. "Bill" West and his wife, Faye; granddaughter, Courtney West Johnson and her husband, Zach; granddaughter, Megan West Reiss and her husband, Ben; great-granddaughter, Cora Adele Johnson; siblings, Marty Dukes Smith and husband, Bob, Mary Dukes Collins and husband, Al, and Jim Dukes; brother and sister in-law, Merrill and Judy West; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marie struggled with dementia for several years and was placed in Harrison Senior Living in 2017. The staff of Harrison Senior Living loved her. They took good care of her until her death. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and caregiving that has been given to Marie.
Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 at 1 p.m. A time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Cokesbury Cemetery, Georgetown.
