Marie C. Salter, 70

SMYRNA - Marie C. Salter, of Smyrna, passed away at home Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. She was 70.

Mrs. Salter was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Dover, the daughter of the late John E. and Marrietta Pippin Caldwell. Mrs. Salter worked as a bookkeeper for Bolan Motors in Dover for over 20 years before retiring from Coca Cola, also in Dover. She was a member of the Women of the Moose where she had served as Star Recorder, Senior Regent, Chairman and Collegiate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George C. "Sug" Salter in 2000; and a brother, John E. Caldwell Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Shelly M. Conboy and her husband David of Smyrna; a brother, Carroll D. Caldwell of Smyrna; three sisters, Eleanor C. Moore, Anna Caldwell and Etta Mae Oehler, all of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn M. and Emily P. Conboy, both of Smyrna; and her special friends, Bob Williamson and Mary Lynch. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Ewell's St. Paul United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 266, Clayton, DE 19938; or to the Women of the Moose, Camden-Wyoming Chapter 1546, P.O. Box 153, Camden, DE 19934. The family would also like to thank Odessey HealthCare of Wilmington.
