Marian Rodney Hackett, 89

WILMINGTON - Marian Rodney Hackett, of Wilmington, passed away on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, in the Methodist Country House Health Center. She was 89. Marian loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will always be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her wonderful cooking. She commented that she prayed every day that God would make her a blessing to someone, and she truly was. Marian is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, the Rev. William O. Hackett. She was a great help to him in all that he did. She is also predeceased by her brother, Charles Alfred Rodney. She is survived by her son and his wife, David and Kathleen Hackett of Lewes, and by her daughter, Susan Hackett of Madison, Ala. She is also survived by her granddaughter and her husband, Ashley and Andrew Pearson of Lynchburg, Va.; her granddaughter, Katie Hackett of Lewes; her brother and his wife, Neil and Sharon Rodney, of Rock Hall, Md.; and her nieces and nephew and their families. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Methodist Country House, 4830 Kennett Pike, Wilmington. Burial will be private.
