Marian C. Van Es, 83 MILFORD - Marian C. Van Es, of Milford, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 83. She was born in Milford, the daughter of the late William H. and Jennie (Dodd) Cleaver. Mrs. Van Es worked for Tidewater Inland Express for 20 years retiring in 1975. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Milford. Her many hobbies included quilting, crocheting, knitting, doing ceramics as well as being a wonderful organ player. Mrs. Van Es had the ultimate sweet tooth and enjoyed baking for her family. She was an excellent story teller, especially telling stories about when she was growing up. She was also quietly adventuresome, learning to waterski at the age of 50 and was an excellent shot with a 22 rifle. Her family was always very important to her, for she was a wonderful wife to her late husband, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Dick Van Es in 2005; and two sisters, Libby Hall and Alice Toler. She is survived by two sons, William P. Haughey Jr. of Millsboro, and Randal Haughey of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one stepson, Jeffrey G. Van Es, of Virginia Beach, Va.; one stepdaughter, Geraldine B. Van Es of Lakewood, Ohio; a sister, Dawn Ellingsworth of Milford; five grandchildren, Jacolyn Beth Haughey, Shelby Miller, Cameron Haughey, Angela Jones and Melissa Haughey; a great- grandson, Kai Haughey; and several nieces and nephews. Services were in the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, U.S. 113, Milford. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
