Marguerite S. Simmons Fisher

DOVER - Marguerite S. Simmons Fisher, of Dover, formerly of Wilmington, departed this life on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, in Pinnacle Nursing Facility, Smyrna.

She was the daughter of the late Samuel Simmons and Mary Eliza Stokes.

She attended school at Kenton, Booker T. Washington and Delaware State College (which is now known as Delaware State University.)

Marguerite worked at various jobs during her lifetime, but seemed to enjoy working with children.

Her last employment was with Hill Top Pre-School Center, where she retired in 2004.

Marguerite belonged to the Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Church, where the pastor is Bishop A. Morton.

She was a member of the choir and she was a member of the Mother's Ministry Board.

She was also a member of the Ransom Chapter 2 of the Order of Eastern Stars, Wilmington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sons, Wendell Fisher, Gregory Fisher, Iven Fisher and Alden Fisher; siblings, Isabelle Watson, Rev. Bermuda Ward, Milbourne "Bobby" Griffin; and two grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Wayne Fisher and his wife Nadine and Keith Fisher and his wife Patricia, all of Wilmington; four daughters, Betty A. Mills and her husband Ronald of Dover, Josephine Fisher-Hall and her husband Samuel of Washington, D.C., Gloria "Yvonne" Fisher of Dover and Janet E. Bordley of Felton; 39 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Deputy of Felton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will take place at 6 p.m. Monday in Community Baptist Church, 1422 Barclay Road, Barclay, Md., where friends may call one hour prior.

The Rev. Daniel C. Ward will officiate and the Rev. William J. Ward Jr. will deliver the eulogy.

Burial will be private.
