Marguerite G. Salmons

HARRINGTON - Marguerite G. Salmons of Harrington, Del., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at Genesis Health Care in Milford. Mrs. Salmons was born Dec. 14, 1919 in Syosset, N.Y. the daughter of the late Augustus Green and Lillian Porter Green. She worked as a volunteer as an Airplane Spotter during WWII. Later she was employed for many years by LD Caulk in Milford, Del., and the DuPont Company in Seaford, Del. Mrs. Salmons enjoyed reading, and writing poetry. She liked to crotchet and was an avid history buff, especially of WWII history. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matford Salmons in 1967; two brothers, Frank and Augustus Green; and two sisters, Grace Slaughter and Emma Sibitzky. She is survived by her sister, Gloria G. Brittingham of Smyrna, Del.; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing services for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon, at the Faries Funeral Chapel located on 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery in Harrington, Del. following the services. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
