LYNCHBURG, Va. - Margaret Sheppard Viar, 87, of Lynchburg, Va., died on Thursday, March 10, 2011. Margaret was born in Glenolden, Pa., on June 12, 1923, a daughter of the late William J. Gorman and the late Margaret Murray Gorman. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Knowlton and husband, Verland of N.H.; her sons, Banner A. Sheppard, Jr. of Delaware, and Tom Sheppard and wife, Caryl of Lynchburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Smith of Arkansas and her former husband, Jimmie Viar of Lynchburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Banner A. Sheppard, Sr. Funeral services were held in Lynchburg, VA on Saturday, March 12, 2011.
