Margaret H. Nichols, 87

DOVER - Margaret H. Nichols, of Dover, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, in Kent General Hospital with her husband, Lacy, by her side. She was 87. Mrs. Nichols was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Clarendon, Texas, to the late Oliver C. Hill and Lucille Dozier Hill. She graduated from Clarendon High School and Amarillo Business College. Mrs. Nichols met and married her husband Lacy at Amarillo Air Force Base during World War II. She worked as a secretary for military personal officer at Amarillo Air Force Base. Mrs. Nichols retired from Wesley College in 1985, where she worked as a secretary, but for most of her life she was a homemaker. She was very active with Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover, and a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Nichols loved to travel with her husband and spend time with family and friends and spoil her grandchildren. Mrs. Nichols is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lacy E. Nichols, Sr. of Dover; her three children, Lacy E. Nichols, Jr. and his wife Merrianne, Patricia L. Nichols and her husband Allan Shepard, and Michael Nichols and his wife Pamela; four grandchildren, Peter Nichols and his wife Spring, Penny Nichols, Steve Shepard, and Jacob Nichols; and great-grandchild, Peter Nichols, Jr. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mattlind Way, Milford, DE 19963; or Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
