Margaret Beatrice Hills

Margaret Beatrice Hills, 74 MILFORD - Margaret Beatrice Hills, 74, of Milford, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hills was born in Harlan, Ky., on July 22, 1934, daughter of the late Mitchell Rayman and Ella (Hoskins) Ward. A devoted wife and homemaker throughout her life, she was an excellent cook, avid baker and gardener, often canning and freezing her own vegetables. She was a member of Independent Bible Fellowship Church of Harrington and was involved for many years with a ladies prayer and fellowship group, the Mary Martha Fellowship. She lives on through a legacy built by her dedication to her family and faith in God; she will be remembered by many as a fierce prayer warrior, as well as a warm, loving and generous friend. In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Collins Steelman; and brother, Harold (Bucky) Rayman. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence F. Hills Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryll Hills McWilliams and husband Jack of Milford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence F. "Larry" Hills Jr. and wife H. Lynn of Milford and Michael B. Hills and wife Tina of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, Robin Targett of Smryna, Kris McWilliams and wife Leslie of Ashburn, Va., Stacy Millward and husband Chad of Conroy, S.C., Rachel Hills of Milford and Kaleb and Jordyn Hills of Lincoln; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler and Alex McWilliams of Ashburn; a half brother, Mitchell Rayman of Louisville, Ky.; and a cousin, Sallie Nylund of Albuquerque, N.M. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Independent Bible Fellowship Church, 6797 Milford-Harrington Highway, Harrington, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margaret's memory can be made to Milford Center, 700 Marvel Road, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements handled by Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
