Circuit Court Judge Leah J. Seaton sentenced a Princess Anne man to 40 years in the June 2018 shooting death of a man in Salisbury.

Johnathon James MeGee, 28, was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison for second-degree degree murder, 10 years for illegal possession of a firearm and 10 years for the use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. The firearms possession charge will be served consecutively with the murder conviction.

MeGee was convicted in June.

Prosecutors said that on June 6, 2018, MeGee became involved in a fight several people outside a home on Priscilla Street in Salisbury. During the fight, several people fired handguns. Shawn Johnson of Fruitland was struck by a bullet and died.

The State’s Attorney’s Office recommended 25 to 40 years of prison time.
