Man injured in shooting at Dover Wawa

DOVER — A 45-year-old Dover man was injured in a shooting at a Wawa on Saturday.

According to Dover police spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, officers were called to the store at 1450 Forrest Ave. at 5:34 a.m. for a reported shooting.

Police located the victim, who had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover.

Cpl. Schmid said an investigation revealed that the victim was returning to his vehicle after exiting the store, when he heard gunshots and realized he had been hit.

No suspect description was available Monday afternoon.
