HARRINGTON — Two stolen shotguns remained missing following the arrest of a 32-year-old Frederica man after an alleged incident Monday, authorities said.

Thomas L. Wester

According to Harrington Police spokesman Earl K. Brode, three shotguns, a crossbow and other hunting equipment were reportedly stolen from a residence on North West Street. Police said an unknown suspected entered the home within the last month.

Following investigation, police alleged that Thomas L. Wester stole the weapons and pawned one at a local shop. A firearm was recovered and Mr. Wester found in a parked vehicle as officers arrived at the business, Capt. Brode said. Mr. Wester was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Police also said firearms may have been sold to persons on the street. A crossbow was recovered, authorities said.

Investigation is continuing and police said more arrests are expected.

Charges included theft of a firearm, theft $1,500 or greater, theft under $1,500, second-degree conspiracy and theft by false pretense under $1,500. Following video phone arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach, Mr. Wester was released on $4,700 unsecured bond.
