Lucia E. Slawter

Lucia E. Slawter, 91 HARTLY - Lucia E. Slawter, 91, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, in her daughter's home. She was born on Aug. 30, 1918, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Igniazio and Annunziata (Meloni) Tancredi. Lucia enjoyed life as a homemaker, especially baking for her family. She liked crafts, sewing and going to Dover Downs Casino. Lucia was a member of the Modern Maturity Center and the County Seat Red Hatters of Georgetown Senior Center. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malvern H. Slawter II; two sons-in-law, Robert Stanley, and James Denham; a grandson, Robert Denham; and eight siblings. She is survived by two daughters, Estella Stanley of Hartly, and Nancy M. Denham and her companion Greg Gabel of Georgetown; a son, Malvern H. Slawter III and his wife Nancy of Dover; a sister, Margaret Sund of Wilmington; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 13, at the Charles Arcaro Funeral Home, 2309 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, where visitation will be one hour earlier. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Dr., Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713; or Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
