Louise Learned Brown

DOVER - Louise Brown passed away peacefully on Jan. 18, 2018. Louise was born Sept. 8, 1920 in Petersburg, Va. the youngest daughter of Luther and Carmela Rao. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and a brother and her first husband of 36 years, Lewis D. Learned Jr.
Louise graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Petersburg Va. She came to Delaware in the early 1940's to be with an older sister. During WWII, Louise served as a telephone operator at New Castle County air base. With occasional jobs, such as the S&H Green stamp store, Louise remained a devoted mother and housewife.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Pamela Learned McCrystal and husband James; her husband, Harold P. Brown; three grandchildren, David Michael McCrystal (Jennifer) of West Grove, Pa., Brian James McCrystal (Dana) of Fuquay Varina, N.C., and Matthew Learned McCrystal (Cheryl) of Cary, N.C.; six great grandchildren, Brandon McCrystal, Andrew McCrystal, Ryan McCrystal, Abigail McCrystal, Alex McCrystal and Caty McCrystal, ranging in ages from 17 to 3 years.
A private family memorial service will be held for Louise at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the favorite charity and/or Hospice organizations of Delaware.
