Louise Hurd, 90 VIOLA - Louise Hurd, of Viola, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Silver Lake Nursing Home. She was 90. Mrs. Hurd was born in Mastens Corner, daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Cooper) Warren. She was the postmaster for the town of Viola for 29 years and a member of the VCF Ruritan, the Viola Methodist Church and the Harrington Moose Lodge 534. In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowers, traveling and collecting bird and chicken knick knacks. Mrs. Hurd also enjoyed cooking and having family meals together. She was famous for her bread pudding. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Warren; a sister, Catherine Dill, and her first husband, Ernest "Joe" Clayton Moore. Mrs. Hurd is survived by a loving husband of 34 years, Clarence Hurd of Viola; a son, Herbert F. Moore of Viola; a sister, Beulah Mae Simpson of Harrington; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the VCF Ruritan and the Viola Methodist Church.
