CAMDEN - Louis Richard Bishop, of Camden, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at home. He was 92. He was born April 24, 1918, in Goldsboro, Md., to the late Oscar and Elnora Richard Bishop. Mr. Bishop was the loving father, of Patricia Ann Nemith and husband George of Camden, cherished grandfather of Kimberly Nemith Suarez and husband Tomas of Ellicott City, Md., Kevin Nemith and wife Cheryl of Camden, and Christopher Nemith and wife Jamie and daughters Brandy and Shallie Patterson of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and great-grandfather to Tara Nemith, Hailey Nemith, Julianne Nemith, Rachel Nemith, Jacob Nemith, Benjamin Suarez, Adam Suarez. He had three brothers, Oscar Bishop of Felton, George Bishop of Cheswold, and Milton Bishop of Felton, and five sisters, Elnora Jackson, Kate Breeding, and Ellen Mackey all of Greensboro, Md., Priscilla Bishop and Alice Bishop both of Camden. Louis was the beloved husband of Sarah Catherine (Camper) Bishop who preceded him in death along with his parents as well as three brothers, Leroy Bishop, Edgar Bishop, and Jacob Bishop, and one sister, Edith Melvin. Mr. Bishop was a lifelong Maryland resident graduating from Greensboro High School in 1935 and was a farmer for many years in Greensboro. He loved the soil and spent many long hours tilling ground, planting seed and harvesting the crop with the help of his late wife, Catherine. He farmed to make a living, but also enjoyed planting his half acre vegetable garden every summer, sharing the harvest with family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking and often surprised family with gifts of furniture and handicrafts he designed and built. After retiring from farming, he was the Green's Supervisor at the Caroline Country Club in Denton, Maryland from 1964 until he retired at age 62. The founders of the club said that Louis was "the only one who knew how to get the grass to grow." He also found time to enjoy camping with Catherine and traveled to destinations on the east coast in his RV. In recent years, he sold his Maryland farm and moved to Camden, Delaware to be closer to his daughter and family. Louis Bishop was a gentle man, with a positive approach to life. He loved and was much loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
