Marlow, 90
Louis (Bud) Henry Marlow, of Havana, North Dakota, passed away on March 23, 2022 in Aberdeen, South Dakota after a long battle with Emphysema and COPD.
He was born November 18, 1931 in Veblen, South Dakota, son of the late Louis V. Marlow and the late Alice A. (White) Marlow.
Louis was a proud member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe of the Lake Traverse Reservation. In his children's eyes he was their "chief". He was a former member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge in Camden, Delaware and the American Legion in Kidder, South Dakota.
In his younger days, Louis worked on various farms. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and was a Corporal in the Motor Pool Division. He was once stationed in North Africa and later in Dover, Delaware, where he met his late wife Helen (Lane) Marlow, mother of their seven children. They made their home in Delaware. After an honorable discharge he worked odd jobs that included farm work and Marker's grocery store but spent the majority of his working days as a truck driver. After his move back to the Dakotas Bud continued his career as a truck driver until his retirement.
His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July and he loved traveling from Delaware to the Dakotas with his family. Louis was quite the jokester and loved to tease his sisters and his children. He enjoyed strumming tunes on his dobro and steel guitars, visiting with family and friends, playing cards, tinkering outside in his shed, but mostly liked taking his dogs for rides around town on his golf cart. He was a fan of red beer and red man chewing tobacco. He never met a stranger.
Louis is survived by his children. Ron Marlow (Jo Evelyn), Helen Hall (David), Brenda Ellingsworth (Fred), Louis (Buzzy) Marlow (Christine), Ralph Marlow (Faye), Norma Jean Burris, Robert Marlow (Ruthi); siblings, Pearl Brakke, Dale Marlow, Janet Lentsch, and Mary Lou Anderson; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews; and his dogs, Gracie, Allie, and Mya.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Lorraine, Ethel, Shirley, Gloria (Dolly), LaVonne and Robert; a granddaughter, Cristi Gingerich; great granddaughter, Alexis Gingerich; and his favorite dog, Okie.
A celebration of life will be April 24, 2022, 1 p.m. at the Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge in Camden, Delaware.
Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Helen Hall - 7539 Canterbury Road, Felton, DE 19943.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
